Earlobe Reduction

Earlobe Reduction

For patients who are unhappy with the appearance of their earlobes, reduction surgery can offer a solution for abnormally large, prominent or droopy earlobes. Earlobe size and shape varies considerably and it is completely natural for earlobes to become larger and lengthen with age. Reduction surgery is a relatively simple procedure designed to resize and reshape the lobe to more aesthetically pleasing proportions.

Pre Operation

What to expect

During your consultation we will discuss the most appropriate and minimally invasive procedure for you. Earlobe reduction is normally undertaken as a day case procedure (you will go home the same day) under local anaesthesia and takes around 30 – 60 minutes per ear. There are several techniques that we use to remove the excess tissue. Once we are happy with the new shape and size we close the tissue with fine stitches ensuring that scarring is kept to a minimum.

Post Operation

After surgery

Discomfort after surgery should be minimal and treatable by simple painkillers if required. You may also be given an antibiotic ointment to apply. We will invite you back for a check-up approximately 1-2 weeks following surgery to ensure your ear is healing correctly.
